CHBA Central Okanagan members help inspire young women to pursue trades
Recognizing the need to encourage more women to consider careers in the residential construction industry, CHBA Central Okanagan (CHBA-CO)’s Women in Construction Committee sponsored an event hosted by Okanagan College aimed at giving high school girls in grades 9-12 the opportunity to experience trades programs before they graduate and embark on their post-secondary education.

The event, creatively named Jill of All Trades, invited 65 female students from North Okanagan high schools to gain hands-on experience in skilled trades workshops. Along with sponsoring the event, members of CHBA-CO's Women in Construction Committee were on site to mentor the students in carpentry, electrical techniques, plumbing, and refrigeration and air conditioning.
