The Big 3: Meet the Builders and Renovators that Made a Big Splash at the 2024 CHBA National Awards for Housing Excellence

The 2024 CHBA National Awards for Housing Excellence recognize the best in Canada’s residential construction industry. There were over 900 submissions this year, and nearly 300 industry experts from across the country meticulously selected finalists and winners for 48 categories. These categories span newly built single-family homes, multi-family residences, high-rises, and new communities, home renovations at every price point, and residential marketing, reflecting the breadth and diversity of the industry.

In addition to the 48 categories, three major accolades were conferred to the top-performing companies: the Design Excellence Award, Renovation Excellence Award, and Marketing Excellence Award. These awards recognize the home builder or renovator (and marketing company for the marketing awards)who has demonstrated the highest overall achievement in their respective new home, renovation, and marketing categories.

This year’s winners of those best overall big three Excellence Awards are:

 

  • Douglas Homes and Jayman BUILT, both based in Calgary, tied in their best overall score to secure a victory in the Design Excellence Award for their exceptional new homes and spaces.
  • Ultimate Renovations from Calgary, Alberta, received the Renovation Excellence Award for their outstanding work in home renovations.
  • The Marketing Excellence Award was presented to Mattamy Homes and Gladstone Media from Toronto, Ontario, for their successful marketing efforts, with their project BLDV Q recognized in multiple categories.

Design Excellence Award (Tie) 

 

Douglas Homes:  

Douglas Homes, established in 1989 by Doug Musak, is a reputable home builder known for practical design, superior craftsmanship, and affordability. They offer quick possession and presale homes, prioritizing customer preferences. With over 150 standard plans and customizable options, they aim to create homes that fit each owner perfectly.

Ultimate Renovations

Ultimate Renovations in Calgary has provided home transformations since 1979, and has won 12 BILD Alberta Renovator of the Year awards for quality craftsmanship and innovative design in addition to their wins at the national level (they won the Renovation Excellence Award in 2023 as well!). They prioritize client satisfaction, transparency, and professionalism, aiming to fulfill renovation dreams with expertise and care.
