EOC Awards HBA Awards
The following eligibility requirements apply for all of the awards listed. The CHBA National Awards Committee is responsibile for ensuring that all nominees meet the eligibility requirements for each award. [Awards offered through the Executive Officers' Council (EOC) are judged by the EOC, and the eligibility requirements stated below also apply.]
All CHBA Awards
Entries shall be submitted by local and provincial Home Builders' Associations (Presidents or Executive Officers), or by members of the National Board of Directors;
Entrries for any of the National Awards for individuals, must be for a member in good standing, as of October 31 in the year of submission;
With respect to Individual awards, previous winners will not be reconsidered for the same award in the future (except for the Rooftopper of the Year);
IIn the case of awards presented to an individual member, only entries made on behalf of one person will be eligible. Couples, pairs, etc. are not eligible;
Only one entry for each award may be made by local or provincial HBAs;
Entry forms that have been amended, altered or edited with respect to content will be disqualified;
Entrants are encouraged to answer all questions on the entry form to maximize results;
Use point form in answering all questions. The judges request that answers to questions be concise and answer the specific questions being asked;
Where applicable, please document specifically the activities or initiatives that were undertaken in the year of submission - this greatly assists the Awards Committee in evaluating the total entry;
Supporting materials, that would enhance a submission, should be attached to the completed Entry Form. Attachments are limited to a maximum of two samples;
Entries are limited to no more than twenty written pages (with a minimum point size of 11), and all materials must be contained in no more then a one-inch binder;
Entry forms must be forwarded to the CHBA National Office no later than December 17 of the year of submission;
In the case of the Home Builders' Association awards, be sure to highlight, in particular, new activities or initiatives that relate to the questions being asked. Past programs, projects or activities recognized previously should not be submitted again for consideration. Please do not reiterate past accomplishments unless they have a direct bearing on the accomplishment referred to in the current entry;
All entries must be legible, therefore hand-written entries may not be accepted;
All entries must be signed by an individual eligible to submit entries as per the first point above.
All Executive Officers' Council Awards
Nominees will be eligible only if the Executive Officer from the applying local or provincial HBA is a paid member of the EOC.
With respect to the Dave Stupart Award, previous winners of the award remain eligible except for the winner of the Award in the year previous. There cannot be a repeat winner, therefore, in consecutive years.
Individual Awards
The Beaver and Maple Leaf Awards
Any member who has made a significant contribution at the national level of the Association is eligible, except:
- The National President, First Vice-President and Second Vice-Presidents (while holding those offices); and
- Previousl winners of the Beaver and Maple Leaf Awards in their respective categories.
The nominee must have been a member of the CHBA for at least two consecutive years prior to the year of submission.
The Gordon S. Shipp Award
Nominees must have worked as a volunteer for five or more years at the National level of the Association;
Nominees for the Beaver or Maple Leaf Awards, in the current year, are ineligible for this award.
The William M. McCance Award
Any member who has been active and made a significant contribution at the National level of the Association is eligible, except the Chair of the Technical Research Committee in the year of submission.
The Canadian Renovators' Council Award
Any member who has been active and made a significant contribution at the National level of the Association is eligible, except for the Chair of the Canadian Renovators' Council in the year of submission.
The Riley Brethour Award
Any member who has been active and made a significant contribution at the National level of the Association is eligible, except the Chair of the National Marketing Committee in the year of submission.
The R-2000 Builder of the Year Award
Any member who has been active and made a significant contribution to R-2000, at the National level of the Association and is an R-2000 certified builder member of the Association is eligible for the award.
The Rooftopper of the Year Award
Presented to the Rooftop Club member who has obtained the highest number of credits for the recruitment of new members during the previous CHBA fiscal year. No entry required.
The CHBA Award of Honour (Local/Provincial)
HBAs are encouraged to nominate in individual only in both the new home builder, renovator or developer and non-new home builder, non-renovator or non-developer categories. The Award recognized the entrant's efforts to promote the mission and objectives of the Association at the local/provincial level. The certificates enable HBAs to recognize nationally those members who do not necessarily qualify for either the Beaver or Maple Leaf Awards.

The Colonel Boss Award
The Community Service Award
Only Local Home Builders' Associations may enter to receive either of these awards.
The Dave Bell Memorial Award
Provincial and Local HBAs may enter for this award.
The Harry J. Long Memorial Award
The winner is determined based on the membership records as of the CHBAs fiscal year-end of October 31. No entry is required.
The CHBA Membership Retention Award
Winners are determined based on the membership records as of the CHBAs fiscal year-end of October 31. No entry is required.
