Homeowners' Guide to Green Renovations

Homeowners' Guide to Green Renovations

This colourful 12-page booklet helps CHBA renovator members market their green renovation services to customers.

It explains why every renovation project - large or small - provides great opportunities for your customers to use your services to make their home "greener" by:

  • reducing environmental impacts, particularly energy and water use
  • creating a healthier and more comfortable living space
  • lowering monthly operating costs and increasing their home's value

Use this booklet to promote your green renovation services, and to respond to customers' questions about green options.

You can easily customize the back cover of the booklet to include your company and contact information. If you are a RenoMark member, the booklet is also available bearing the RenoMark.

The Homeowners' Guide to Green Renovations is available in two formats:

  • one suited for printing by you in single page format, in colour or black & white, on your office laser or ink-jet printer
  • one for full colour printing as a stapled booklet by your commercial printer.

Member Versions

The Homeowners’ Guide to Green Renovations
for all CHBA members

You can print copies of the Guide using either of two file formats linked below.

The Office Printing version is intended for use with your office laser or inkjet printer, in either black & white, or colour. It will output as individual pages you can staple. NOTE: you can insert your company information, as text only (no logos or other artwork), in the box on the back cover. Follow these instructions:

  1. Download and open the Office Printing PDF.
  2. Go to the last page (back cover).
  3. Using the mouse pointer, click in the centre of the white rectangle. You should see a blinking cursor appear.
  4. Type in your company information, using the return key to start a new line, or create a line space.
  5. Print the PDF. Unfortunately, the free version of Acrobat Reader does not allow you to save these changes, so you will need to re-enter the information when you print additional copies in the future.

The Commercial Printing version will allow your printing supplier to produce the document in the same booklet format as the sample sent to you by the CHBA. Your printer will also be able to insert your company logo or other artwork in the customizable area on the back cover. Follow these instructions:

  1. Download the Commercial Printing PDF and save it to removable media (CD or memory stick), or provide the URL for this webpage to your printer so they can download the file directly (the file is quite large).
  2. Give your printer the copy of the Guide you received from the CHBA as a print sample.
  3. Give them instructions about what information or artwork/logos you want inserted on the back cover.
  4. Your printer will then be able to provide you with a printing proof of your customized version and costs. Depending on the quantity you want, the printer will recommend either digital or offset printing.

Note: If you want your printed material to be of the same quality as the sample copy, here are the offset printing specifications that were used:

Size: 17" X 11" Flat; 8 1/2" 11" Folded Stock: 115 lb Hannoart Silk Text
Colour: 4/4 plus overall satin aqueous varnish Bindery: Trim and saddle stitch
