FINALISTS NAMED FOR CHBA NATIONAL SAM AWARDS

OTTAWA - December 8, 2008 - The Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA) is pleased to announce the Finalists for the 2008 CHBA National SAM Awards - Presented by American Standard Brands and Trane Canada.

The CHBA National SAM Awards celebrate excellence in new homes and renovation design, innovative technology and construction techniques, outstanding presentation, and marketing activities across Canada.

Twenty-three CHBA National SAM Awards will be presented at the Association’s 66^th National Conference on February 28, 2009 in Québec City. CHBA President John Hrynkow said that winning a National SAM is a real honour and distinction.

“Our members are truly accomplished in terms of their design, use of innovative technology and distinctive community development,” declared Mr. Hrynkow, “and these Finalists are shining examples of how the housing industry has soared to new heights. The record number of entries this year also shows how important these awards are, and I am proud of the successes of all the Finalists this year.”

CHBA National SAM Awards are offered in the following categories (number of awards in category): New Home Awards (8), Home Renovation Awards (5), Marketing Awards (6), the Marketing Excellence Award, the Community Development Award and the American Standard Grand SAM Award. The Grand SAM Award will be presented to the new home builder member who best combined excellence in both the building and marketing of new homes.

New for 2008 is the Green Home Award. This award will be presented to a new home builder or developer member for the outstanding environmental performance of a new single-detached home.
